The Man…The Myth…The Legend…The TWEEP?

That’s right I called the one and only 7ft tall 325 lb. Shaquille O’Neil a TWEEP. Well that’s because he is one. In just a few short months Shaq, the All-Star center for the Phoenix Suns has acquired more than 30,000 followers on Twitter (@THE_REAL_SHAQ) http://twitter.com/THE_REAL_SHAQ. Thanks to his loyal and ever-growing fan base, the Sun’s PR and Digital Media pro’s developed and successfully launched the first ever (for an NBA franchise) Tweetup. For you non-Tweeps, a Tweetup is an organized twitter event.  Tweeps and Suns fans alike enjoyed an evening of fun during pre-game festivities and in their court-side seats. After the game they got to meet Shaq, and even though the Suns lost to the Timberwolves by only 2 points, the Suns turned their virtual connections into real ones.

So ask yourself – Who do you follow? And if you don’t know what a Tweep or a Tweetup is then maybe you should just stick with minesweeper or solitaire on your lunch hour  -AD

Super Bowl Ads in 3D

Its that time of year again… time for football fans and non-football fans alike to gather around the big screen for the big event and watch the most highly anticipated ad spots of the year.  Despite the down economic times, companies will not be cutting back on their ad budgets for the big game.

One ad I’m super pumped for is DreamWorks 90-second, 3D commercial for its upcoming film “Monsters vs. Aliens.” And this isn’t the old -school 3D I’m talking about. The broadcast will be using Intel InTru 3D and ColorCode 3-D, two new technologies that refine the long-standing system for viewing 3D. Read more about the technology here. DreamWorks will be passing out 125 million pairs of 3D glasses in supermarkets before the big day.

 The “Monsters vs. Aliens” ad will be followed by a 60-second, 3D commercial for Sobe featuring Justin Tuck, Ray Lewis and Matt Light.  Now if I could only get my hands on a pair of those cardboard beauties…

Waiting list for blanket with arms…

With retailers across the country looking for the next hot item to bring back the masses – who knew it would be a throw back to Obi Wan Kenobi? Allstar Marketing Group of Hawthorne, N.Y. launched the Snuggie, a robe-like blanket that’s sure to reach and cover your feet, while leaving your hands free to change the channel. Just as Obi Wan Kenobi and Star Wars became a cult classic – the snuggie’s have acquired a cult following in their own right.

Manufacturers can’t get them out quick enough with more than 4 million units sold in just over three months. This bargain deal of two snuggies and two book lights for only $19.95 is surely in closets of mom’s and grandma’s across the nation already wrapped for Christmas next year!  -AD

8000 to 1...

At first, I thought I would have loved to have been in DC for Tuesday's festivities.  Watching history in the making, being surrounded by people representing all walks of life and knowing that I'd have a story to tell for years to come.  Then I heard the startling statistic: each Port-a-Potty was to serve 8,000 people.  8,000 to 1 - are you kidding me?  Besides the fact that I'm 8 months preggers and frequently find myself searching for an acceptable bathroom, I do have bathroom standards and a Port-a-Potty is a tough one for me - especially when it has to be shared with 7,999 strangers.  So, I look back on Tuesday's festivities and am happy to say I watched them from Denver near a clean and familiar bathroom (only shared with three other people). Obama, the Action Figure

 

The DOW ended up nearly 280 points today, so it appears the “Obama Bounce” started about 24 hours late.  Positive change may take more than a day or two in these times, but if you want a constant reminder on what we’ve signed up for it, check out the Obama action figure at http://www.onlinedid.com/

Please Put on the Hat!

If you haven’t been following Josh Shayne’s journey halfway across the country on behalf of Stetson to present an official Inaugural Hat to President-elect Obama on www.hatforobama.com, we have exciting news to share.

The official Inaugural Stetson Hat is in the hands of a member the transition team. The hat is one step closer to keeping the President-elect’s head warm during tomorrow’s festivities! Josh officially delivered the hat, along with a handwritten note urging the President-elect to put on the hat and revive the long-standing tradition of president’s donning Inaugural Hats. Video footage of the delivery will be up the website shortly.

Throughout this journey, for every hat sold through Josh’s Web site, www.hatforobama.com, Stetson will donate a portion of the proceeds up to $50,000 to Hats Off For Cancer, an organization that provides hats for children who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment.

Now, President-elect Obama, it’s up to you. Please PUT ON THE HAT!

Here is a creative endeavor for you. The Scraper Bike! Don't ask me why they're called this (I have my assumptions), but with over 3 million combined hits on YouTube these Trunk Boiz have hit on something interesting (and hella funny). Maybe it has to do with everyone going green these days, or not. I think I saw one of these made out of our Schwinn cruiser bike that went missing driving by our office. - Todd
